The Collection of Ceramics Alfonso Tafuri, opened to the public from september 1987, is divided in four fields. In the first display windows, left side, for who enters, is exposed the material recovered in the historical center of Salerno. The most ancient finds are datable to the XVI Century. The XVIII Century is present also with two great centers: Naples and Cerreto Sannita. The panel of the "riggiole" is a production of Vietri of 800 and Naples of 700. The exemplaries are a selection of the rich tipological collection, still today partially in work in the Mediterranean historical centers. The third session is constituted from the plates of the XIX and XX Century. The quarter section is composed
of exemplaries of crockery of Vietri of the XIX Century and from the production of Giffoni Valle Piana and Cerreto Sannita. Pieces of the German period, more ahead, are represent by artists who operated in Vietri in 1920-47: Riccardo Doelker, Irene Kowalisca, I guide Gambone, Giovannino Carraro. |
