The Amalfitan Coast conserves its fascination thanks to its splendid relationship between the beauty of the territory and the historical- cultural patrimony. Every small village that studs the Divine Coast expresses with their characteristic monuments its glorious past, like Amalfi, one of the most ancient and powerful Maritime Republics and prosperous for the traffic in the Mediterranean Sea particularly in the X and XI century. Amalfi conserves the splendid cathedral that dates from the XII century, the Arsenals of the Republic, the Paper Museum and the Civic Museum. Strange, that boasts the church of S. Salvatore of Bireto, that dates from the X century, is seated for years in the election of the amalfitan Doges with the imposition of the dogal cap. Ravello, with its inestimable beauty, that exhibits the Cathedral of the XII century, as well as the two famous Villas characterized with the large gardens with a view at the sea: Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. There's also Minori, important arsenal of the Amalfitan Republic, where has been conservated the rests od a roman villa of the I century a.C., and Maiori that boasts a splendid church of S. Maria a Mare, with a coffered ceiling. In the end, only for the geografic disposition, we consider Vietri sul Mare, a picturesque village in a charming position, that has an international fame for its art of ceramics that emerges everywhere, in the streets, public squares and on monuments.
